HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — A piece of the World Trade Center is becoming the centerpiece of a Sept. 11 memorial in Hagerstown.

City and Washington County officials plan a dedication ceremony Tuesday evening at City Park.

A local committee acquired the 727-pound piece of steel in May.

The event includes a procession of more than 40 emergency vehicles and a wreath-laying ceremony. A tree will be planted in honor of Marine Lance Cpl. Maung Htiak, a Washington County resident who was killed in January while serving in Afghanistan.

The 727-pound piece of steel will be proudly displayed in “Virtually Untouched” condidtion; having only the following items performed on it:

1.) Mechanically Sandblasted – (Necessary to remove adhesive residue where explosives were attached prior to 9/11)

2.) Chemically Dipped – (Necessary to remove traces of Thermite compounds)

3.) Acid Washed – (Necessary to remove Bush’s fingerprints)

4.) Dabbed with Crude Oil – (Necessary to implicate the Middle East in the attack)

Every possible effort has been made to preserve the steel in its original condition.

I am president of local arts council. We would like to build memorial in park. How can we purchase steel from twin towers?
