Md. Woman Is Injured After Vehicle Strikes Tire

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say a West Virginia woman has been injured after her vehicle struck a tire that came loose from a van on Interstate 70.

Authorities said in a news release that Rosemarie Ann Smith, 41, of Martinsburg, W.Va., was taken to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries after the Tuesday crash. Police say she was traveling west on I-70 at Downsville Pike when her 2004 Dodge Caravan struck the loose tire.

Police say the tire came from a 2004 Ford E350 van driven by Felipe Ayala of Ashtabula, Ohio. Authorities say Ayala was cited for operating an unsafe motor vehicle.

When will the state of Md have twice yearly inspections of their vehicles done by the state police like in N.J. The cars & trucks on Md highways are in terrible shape if you havent’s already noticed. Only time you have them inspected is when you buy one….That could be years until you sell or trash it.

I Agree, about inspections, but the Tire came off a car from Ohio, and the woman was from West Virginia, I dont see how Maryland State Inspection applies in this matter. Sometimes its best to read the articles facts before posting.
