BALTIMORE (WJZ)—There’s a new star in Baltimore. And she’s only 4 years old.

Ron Matz reports she’s been on David Letterman and now she’s appearing in a new commercial for the Maryland SPCA.

Paige is the star of the new commercial for the Maryland SPCA. Paige’s jumping talents won her the role over a dozen others.

“For the SPCA commercial she had to run and jump into my arms,” said Lauren Girard, Paige’s owner. “It was a little nerve-racking. There was a lot of competition. There were a lot of great dogs. We just did our best and they chose us. We’re so lucky.”

Local ad agencies donated their best to make the commercial a reality.

“A lot of work went into the Maryland SPCA’s new commercial,” said Aileen Gabbey, executive director of Maryland SPCA. “We were so fortunate that people like Lauren and Paige the dog donated their time. We had professional ad agencies donating their time to us…We just had such great fortune to have people donate their services to us.”

“I think people really care about this cause, care about the Maryland SPCA,” Gabbey added. “They got really excited about being part of something new and exciting and helpful to the animals.”

Paige is 35 pounds of fun and a lot more.

“I have a talented dog,” Girard said. “She’s a 4-year-old Border Collie. She knows a ton of tricks, and I’ve been training her since she was 10 weeks old.”

It’s a commercial about caring about animals.

“We really want people to be encouraged to adopt from a shelter like the Maryland SPCA and also to support a great cause,” Gabbey said. “We need the help of the community. We rely on donations.”

Paige is now a star.

“Obviously I think my dog is amazing and she’s the star of my life,” Girard said. “It’s just so great to see other people enjoy her, too. It’s brought so much joy to my life, and I love her so much.”

You can see more of Paige online.

“If you want to see more of Paige just go on YouTube and search ‘Paige the Border Collie,’” Girard said. “You can see some of her tricks. She does some amazing things.”
