FINKSBURG, Md. (WJZ) — Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for answers in the mysterious death of a 17-year-old Westminster teen found Wednesday morning.

Around 11 a.m. on Oct. 12, Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a wooded area along the 2100-block of Sandymount Road for a report of an unconscious male, believed to be deceased.

Arriving deputies found a deceased white male, in his late teens to early 20s, a short distance from the roadway.

Detectives have identified the body as Caleb Lee Mott, 17, of Westminster.

There were no apparent signs of trauma to the body, which was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

According to deputies, Mott was last seen early Tuesday morning as he walked from a friend’s home, close to where his body was discovered.

Deputies are asking that anyone who may have seen Mott in the past 48 hours to contact Detective Corporal Carlos Bustos of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 410-386-2900. Or call the toll-free anonymous TIPS Hotline at 1-888-399-TIPP (8477).
