Montgomery County To Simulate Terror Attack

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- First responders, government employees and hospitals in Montgomery County will be testing their ability to respond to a terrorist attack with a large number of victims.

Wednesday's exercise will simulate the movement of mock victims to area hospitals for treatment. Some of the mock victims will be transported by helicopter.

Residents are warned that they may see participants dressed up to look like they've been severely injured and hospital workers wearing protective gear and simulating the decontamination process. The exercise is not expected to affect the ability to receive treatment at hospitals.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is organizing the exercise.
