BLOG: Not Ready For Primetime

The Ravens have played in front of a national TV audience twice this season.  At home against the New York Jets and last night at Jacksonville against the Jaguars.  The Ravens split those two games but their was definitely one common thread.  Joe Flacco was terrible in both games.  No more excuses time.  I’m beginning to wonder whether Flacco is good enough to win a Super Bowl.  With their schedule I still think they’re a playoff team but what makes you think he can win in Pittsburgh against the Steelers in a couple of weeks when he couldn’t win in Tennessee vs the Titans or in Jacksonville.  He has to be better.  Period!!

The Raven’s offense needs a leader on the field. They need something that can’t be taught or coached. Flacco doesn’t exhibit this. I understand he’s said that being a rah-rah type isn’t his style, but I’m talking about leading by your on-field personna; showing your mates you’re willing to leave it all out there between the lines to accomplish your objective. Joe knows he’s good, we know he’s good, but that’s not getting it done. Look at the years Baltimore squandered on Boller, never even taking him off the field until he got hurt. Boller and Flacce both have strong throwing arms. Takes more than that to thrive in the NFL. We all have a bad day, and for a 4-yr starter, Joe’s having too many. Instead of always giving the QB a chance, let’s give the team a chance.
