1 Killed, 1 Hurt In Midland House Fire

MIDLAND, Md. (AP) -- The state fire marshal's office says a man is dead and his wife was hurt in a house fire in Western Maryland town of Midland.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Bruce Bouch says the fire was reported about 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The agency is withholding the victims' names pending notification of relatives.

Bouch says the woman called in the fire and said she and her husband couldn't escape.

Firefighters found her unconscious in a second-floor bedroom along with her deceased husband.

Bouch says emergency responders revived the woman and took her to the hospital in Cumberland.

He says the fire originated in the first-floor living room but investigators haven't yet determined how it started.
