URBANA, Md. (AP) — Maryland State police say the driver of a car that had been reported stolen in Virginia was killed when the vehicle left the road, went down an embankment and burst into flames.
It happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 270 near Urbana. Troopers say the car was being operated recklessly while traveling north on the interstate.
The News-Post of Frederick reports that the vehicle left the highway, went through a guardrail, traveled down an embankment, hit several trees and burst into flames. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers have not identified the driver. The crash is under investigation.
