Md. Made Medicaid Payments To Dead People

BALTIMORE (AP) — A state legislative audit says Maryland paid $426,000 in Medicaid to 10 people who were dead.

The audit, released Wednesday, also found that between January 2008 and August 2011, $2.5 million in erroneous payments were made for 323 people who may have already been dead.

The Baltimore Sun reported that state agencies have recouped about $115,000.

Auditors matched Social Security death records to the names of people for whom payments were made.

So who is losing their job over this?

In a private sector job if you lost almost a half million dollar you would be fired and there would likely be a criminal investigation into your involvement?

Who wants to bet that that some of the dead folks might have a relationship to some of the people who worked at SSI?

What a scam…keep wasting our money.

    I cashed mine.

They should get paid as they still vote

I’m still alive and can’t get a dime in aid for my medical expenses, so are you trying to tell me that all I have to do is die to be able to afford better medical care?

What is wrong w/ this picture?

I hope they prosecute all those who cashed dead people’s checks and maybe they could use some of that money to pay someone to run the SSNs before they issue checks? I agree, heads should roll over this one, but they won’t.

And O’Malley opposes ID’s to vote……so these same “dead:” people can help elect him. But keep raising fees and taxes so we can support this fraud and corruption.

AGAIN ! We will reward FAILURE ! This type of environment makes Author Andersen look like everyday business! Citizens you do not want to really know how much of your tax dollars are given away daily to those who donot desire one penny! Please remember these articles on election day! We have no Transpariency in Maryland! Take a day or morning and go to the parking lot of one of these facilities and check out the clothes and vehicles they drive because of our tax dollars! Then you have persons that could really benefit with some help that cannot get it!

The working poor, people on S.S. barely getting by, the homeless who through no fault of their own lost everything & yet the F…..k’n government is paying dead people with your $$. Ahhh, Washington D.C. where it’s easy to spend OPM. These officals blow in from the private sector for a few years, turn people’s lives upside down & when the heat get’s turned up, they bail & head back to Wall st.

Waste, fraud and abuse is the motto of all government agencies. Overstaffed, over paid, and failures in their job. No one seems to care….this I don’t understand. If these people worked in the private sector they would have been fired long ago. Probably most are protected by a union and will never lose their job no matter how poorly they perform.
