WHEATON, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police are trying to identify a pedestrian who was struck and killed on Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton.

The man was hit by two vehicles as he was crossing Veirs Mill Road late Saturday night. He died at a hospital early Sunday morning.

Police say the man was struck by a sedan, then hit again by a dark-colored SUV that did not stop. He was not in a crosswalk when he was hit. Police say he was between 35 and 50 years old, with black hair and a mustache.

Police are also hoping to identify the driver of the SUV. The driver of the first car to hit the man was not injured.
