Manhattan Holds Off Winless Towson 81-62

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- George Beamon scored 21 points and Kidani Brutus had 18 off the bench as Manhattan held off winless Towson 81-62 Tuesday night.

The Jaspers (8-4) have won five straight for the first time since January 2007.

The Tigers (0-11) jumped out to a 13-4 lead, thanks to seven points by Robert Nwankwo, who finished with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Trailing 20-19, Manhattan went on a 20-3 run, highlighted by three 3-pointers by Liam McCabe-Moran, to lead 39-23 at the 5:17 mark. The Jaspers were held scoreless the rest of the half, but Towson tallied only six points during that closing stretch.

After the Tigers got to 49-47 with 14:10 left on Jervon Pressley's three-point play, the Jaspers used a 7-0 run to pull away.

Towson had a 33-25 rebounding advantage, but turned the ball over 23 times -- leading to 28 points -- compared to 10 miscues for Manhattan.
