Study To Focus On Md. Minor League Stadium

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- A feasibility study will be done to determine whether upgrades are needed at a Maryland stadium that's home to a minor league baseball team.

Members of the Wicomico County Council approved paying one-third of the cost for a feasibility study of Perdue Stadium, where the Delmarva Shorebirds play. The Daily Times of Salisbury reports the Maryland Stadium Authority's study will focus on what upgrades are needed to keep the team viable and profitable.

The team expects to renegotiate its lease with the county in a few years. If the study concludes the team can remain viable at the location, then county officials will be able to decide whether the stadium should be renovated. The stadium opened in 1996.

The Shorebirds are a Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.
