Oldtown Man Charged With Numerous Sex Offenses

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Allegany County authorities have charged an Oldtown man with numerous sex offenses allegedly involving two teenage boys.

Sixty-three-year-old Marvin VanMeter was arrested Tuesday and charged with sex abuse of a minor second- and third-degree sex offense and other offenses. He is being held on $250,000 bond.

Authorities say an investigation of allegations that VanMeter had abused two teenagers, ages 13 and 14, led to the charges.

Officials say the abuse of one of the victims began when he was much younger.
