Towson Town Center Grants Md. Mom & Military Wife's Holiday Wish

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A Maryland mom gets her wishes granted thanks to Towson Town Center.

Monique Griego has more on her wish.

In between taking care of her two boys, Barbara Novitske doesn't have a lot of time and money to splurge on herself.

But that all changed thanks to an online entry.

"I opened it and I was like, 'What?' I was excited! Just shock and disbelief!" said Novitske.

She won the "Your Wish List Granted Giveaway" put on by the shopping center's blog-- the Towson Town Center Guru.

"We invited readers of my blog to write me and tell me what they wanted for the holidays from the mall," Rebecca Klein, the Towson Town Center Guru, said.

"I just decided to keep it sweet and simple to what I really wanted at the time," Novitske said.

Right now, Novitske's husband, Maj. Andrew Novitske, is deployed to Afghanistan. Her wish was to buy new outfits for her and her boys to wear to the airport for his homecoming in March.

"I've been running and working really hard to look and feel my best," she said.

What may seem like a small wish means a lot to Novitske.

"I just wanted to feel good and look good," she said.

In addition to the shopping spree, Novitske asked for a date night with her husband and the mall made that happen with a gift card to a restaurant and a gift card to give to a babysitter.

So with both her boys in tow, the Guru granted Barabara Novitske's wish-- she got a new outfit and a new attitude. The boys got also matching duds to show their dad.

"I just think he'll be really happy and proud to see us, and have a lot of pride to see his family," she said.

Novitske's husband comes home in March for two weeks, then goes back to Afghanistan. He'll come home for good in July.
