Western Md. Blast Part Of FBI Test
KLONDIKE, Md. (AP) — The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says an explosion that shook homes along Georges Creek in rural western Maryland was part of an FBI test.
The Cumberland Times-News reports that about 30 people called 911 about the blast Wednesday morning centered near the Allegany County community of Klondike.
The fire marshal’s office says the controlled blast was part of an FBI test in a remote location. It says that it helped the FBI find a site for the test.
The state agency says the test included the loud blast and three smaller ones to dispose of explosive devices.
The FBI is declining to comment on the incident.
