Water Damage In Maryland Senate Office Building

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The James Senate Office Building in Annapolis has sustained water damage on multiple floors after a 3-inch pipe that is part of the sprinkler system broke.

Sam Cook, special assistant to the secretary of the Maryland Department of General Services, said there is no major damage to the building that contains offices for state senators as a result of Monday's leak. However, he says quite a bit of water drained from the sprinkler system in the building's cupola.

Cook says the leak has been stopped and repair work begun.

Sen. Nancy Jacobs, R-Harford, says a staff member saw water leaking out of light fixtures in a hallway. She says the leak has created quite a mess in some areas.
