BLOG: Another Storm On The Way On Sunday; Chance Of Freezing Rain

The winter storm has come and gone. It left an average of 1-2.5" of snow in its wake from a D.C.-Baltimore line northwestward, and a coating to 1" for AA County over to the Eastern Shore. The biggest part of this storm, though, was the coating of ice that fell after the snow. It has made for some slick roads Saturday, and will again as temperatures are dropping down to the teens. Any roads that were not properly treated will re-freeze overnight.

The chilly air will linger Sunday even with some sunshine. That sunshine will give way to a new round of clouds as yet another storm moves our way Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will climb out of the teens to near freezing in the afternoon. However, there is the chance for some freezing rain or drizzle Sunday afternoon since this storm may get here before temperatures hit the 32 degree mark. Be careful if you are headed out Sunday afternoon or evening, there could be a new round of slick roads. Anything that is frozen will change to rain Sunday night and Monday as temperatures continue to climb. We will top 32 Sunday night, then top out near 50 degrees Monday-- that's why we feel so confident that all will change to rain.

That storm will leave us for midweek. When it does, a Pacific air mass will follow. That's important because it will contain milder air than the recent Arctic air masses we have been getting. Expect highs to run above average - in the upper 40s Tuesday and Wednesday. Another storm will move this way Thursday with rain, and maybe pump temperatures up above 50 once again.

And just in case you are interested in that little game going on in Foxborough Sunday, the winter storm will be gone. So close, but so far for the snow lovers. It will be dry and chilly with a kickoff temperature around 27 degrees. Another storm will arrive probably after the game.
