Man Seriously Injured In 2-Alarm Fire

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- One man was seriously injured in a two-alarm fire Wednesday evening.

According to officials, a fire broke out on the fourth floor of Pinewood East Senior Living Facility. It took 71 firefighters to control the blaze.

One man had second- and third-degree burns over 70 percent of his body. He's been taken to Bayview Medical Center. He is in serious condition.

The other occupants were evacuated due to smoke. The fire was contained to one apartment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Four firefighters heading to this fire were in an accident and struck a civilian's car. They had very minor injuries and were taken to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center. One man and woman in the car were taken to Shock Trauma with serious but non-life threatening injuries and another woman was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center with minor injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
