Metro Employee On Unpaid Leave After Guilty Plea
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro says the driver of a bus involved in a fatal 2008 collision with a minivan taxi has been placed on unpaid leave following his guilty plea.
Ronald W. Taylor pleaded guilty last week to negligent homicide in D.C. Superior Court, and Metro spokesman Dan Stessel tells The Washington Examiner that Taylor was placed on unpaid leave while the transit agency reviews his case.
The crash occurred Sept. 26, 2008, when a Metrobus driven by Taylor struck the cab in northwest Washington. The bus was not carrying any passengers, but one of the cab's passengers, Bartlett Tabor, of Alamo, Calif., died at a hospital after the collision.
Taylor was fired following the crash but was reinstated to his job by an arbitration panel.
