Baltimore Fire Museum Opens Doors Amid Sale Talks

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore City Fire Museum is hosting an open house at its old engine house, which the city may sell to
generate revenue.

The open house Saturday will highlight the historic building. It is among 15 historic sites Baltimore officials are considering
selling or leasing. City officials have said the sites are underused.

The list of historic sites also includes the Shot Tower, the War Memorial building and the Civil War Museum.

City officials have said they want to enhance the properties and turn them into profitable enterprises. Of the 15 buildings being looked at, 12 are protected by historic landmark designation. Some preservationists say they are worried about the uncertain future for such historic sites.
