Steve and I broadcast from Pickles Pub Friday morning and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. The place was packed and the crowd started coming in at five AM. I know Pickles is an Orioles tradition and everyone was having fun, but what really struck me about Opening Day was the fact that folks really love their baseball in this town.
People took the day off from work, decked themselves out in black and orange and were enjoying themselves thoroughly. It really hit me that while Baltimore is a great football town (with a great team) the baseball tradition goes back a long way.
Could you imagine what it would be like if the Os were competitive again?
Well, the first series of the season finished as a sweep over the Twins & while it is going good I’m going to dream of what Baltimore would be like with the return of “The Oriole Way.”
Go Os!
