Man Pleads Guilty To First-Degree Murder; Sentenced To Life In Prison

MIDDLE RIVER, Md. (WJZ) -- Sam Davis pleaded guilty at the Baltimore County Circuit Court on Wednesday to first-degree murder of Jacqueline Denise Paul.

Davis stabbed Paul on April 4, 2011 on the side of her chest as she lay in bed at the house where they lived together. Davis left home and called others to say he had harmed Paul. He later admitted to the murder.

Davis was convicted of two armed robberies in 1971, assault with intent to murder in 1978 and second-degree murder in 1995. He was released from his second-degree murder sentence in 2009.

He was sentenced to life in prison with 50 years suspended in connection with Paul's murder. He is required to serve the first 25 years of his sentence without parole.
