FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Sen. Benjamin Cardin is expected to tour a new cancer research facility in Frederick.
The Democrat is scheduled to tour the National Cancer Institute’s new Advanced Technology Research Facility Thursday afternoon.
Cardin will receive a briefing on the facility, which is scheduled to open this summer.
The research center will be home to laboratories and focus on genetics and genomics, proteomic, nanotechnology, advanced biomedical imaging and bioinformatics. It will also be used for drug development and produce drugs for human clinical trials.
