UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — A University of Maryland student who authorities say issued online warnings that he planned to go on a shooting rampage has been ruled competent to stand trial.

Alexander Song appeared Tuesday in Prince George’s County Mental Health Court, where he told a judge he felt much better. The 19-year-old was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after his March arrest.

A spokesman for Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s office tells The Washington Times that it could be
months before the case goes to trial.

Authorities say Song posted messages that said he planned to “kill enough people to make it to national news.” He wasn’t armed at the time of his arrest, and police found no weapons in his dorm room or at his parent’s Maryland home.
