Man Sentenced For Stealing Recycling From Navy

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a Lusby man has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for embezzling more than $600,000 from the U.S. Navy.

Christopher M. Hill, 47, was also ordered to pay restitution to the Navy and the IRS. He had pleaded guilty in August to embezzling government property and filing false tax returns.

According to his guilty plea, Hill was a civilian employee at the Washington Naval Yard managing the recycling program. A company that retrieved scrap metal from Navy installations paid Hill instead of the Navy.
