Glenn Younes: Suggs Out - Ravens Suffer

With the news that Terrell Suggs is out for the 2012 season with a torn Achilles (first reported by our own Vinny Cerrato) there are many story lines to get into...

I'll go with the topic of who's next? Next in line to fill his Player of the Year honors, that is. The answer is no one will really fill his shoes but they will have to fill his position. A premiere pass rusher who can also stop the run? that's a rare talent and now he's lost for 2012. It makes the rookie Courtney Upshaw that much more important, as he'll be filling the void left by JJ.

So what's this mean? It means Paul Kruger who is a pass rush guy and mostly a 1st & 2nd down guy will have to move to the other side, across from Upshaw. It means McPhee in his second season will have to take even more steps than the large ones he took in his rookie year. It means Arthur Jones, Terrance Cody and Haloti Nagata will have to carry more weight than ever. The secondary is going to have to hold up the back end more than ever and Joe Flacco and the offense MUST light up the score board more than ever.

This is a huge loss for the team and there is no way to sugar coat things but the Ravens can over come. But it's going to take a total team effort.
