WEATHER BLOG: Tropical Storm Alberto Could Bring Rain To Md. In Next 2 Days

We have our first named tropical system of the year!

Tropical Storm Alberto formed just off the South Carolina coast Saturday afternoon. That's where it will stay for the next 24-36 hours. Then, it will make a turn off to the northeast and move up toward Hatteras and eventually south of Ocean City in the next couple of days. It does not look like Alberto will gain a lot of strength, but it will be close enough to us to cause some problems.

Clear skies will hang on Saturday night, then start to mix with clouds Sunday. It should still be a pretty nice day, topping out around 80 degrees. Then, a front off to our west will get close at the same time that Alberto moves northward. The combination will lead to scattered rain and maybe some thunderstorms starting Sunday night and continuing into Tuesday. The winds will also pick up a bit Monday night and Tuesday.

Alberto will start to move away Wednesday, but we could still see some showers from it before it does. Of course, this is a HUGE day for us in the First Warning Weather Department. We have our 5th annual Weather Field Trip day down at Camden Yards. Make sure you check back in to get the latest forecast as we get closer. And we hope to see many of you down there!
