One Love Foundation Names Unsung Heroes Honorees

BALTIMORE, Md. (AP) -- The One Love Foundation says Maryland's Joe Cummings and Ryan Rotanz of Virginia Tech are the winners of the 2012 YRL Unsung Hero Awards.

The awards, and the foundation, are name for Yeardley Love, a former Virginia lacrosse player who was slain in 2010. The awards are given to a male and female lacrosse player from the Atlantic Coast Conference for leadership, community service, and being a positive role model. Candidates are nominated by their coaches.

Cummings is a senior captain who leads the Terps with 45 points. He has been active in several community service projects involving the Maryland lacrosse program.

Rotanz was fourth on the Hokies with 32 points. She has traveled to Vietnam with the Coach for College program and frequently visits critically-ill children in hospitals.
