UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a Maryland woman thought to have schemed to kill her estranged husband and his pregnant girlfriend has been convicted of two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

The Washington Post reports that Sheila Aidoo’s attorney says Aidoo reached an agreement with prosecutors that will put her in prison for at least 10 years but no more than 20 for the 2009 killings of Seth Aidoo and his girlfriend.

The attorney says Aidoo pleaded guilty under the Alford doctrine, in which a defendant admits there’s enough evidence for a conviction but doesn’t admit guilt.

Prosecutors have said finances were believed to be part of the motive.

Authorities have said Aidoo’s brother and boyfriend killed Seth Aidoo and his girlfriend. Both men were sentenced to life in prison.
