Roasted Sunflower Seeds Ignite Inside Truck In Md.

CLEAR SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Firefighters in Clear Spring say a truckload of freshly roasted sunflower seeds ignited inside a barn but caused little damage.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that farmer Arnold Campbell extinguished the fire and drove the vehicle out of his barn before firefighters arrived early Wednesday morning.

Campbell says he roasted 250 bushels of seeds for livestock feed and loaded them into the trailer overnight.

Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Reid says the seeds hadn't cooled down before Campbell loaded them.

He says the trailer sustained some damage but doesn't appear to be a total loss.
