Last Saturday’s circus in Las Vegas may be the final nail in boxing’s coffin. The sport has been struggling for years for an image makeover and the stunning split decision rendered by the judges in the Pacquiao Bradley fight may have just ended any chances of that makeover happening.

All accounts say that Manny won and the decision was mystifying yet no investigation will take place. Really? Boxing has been tainted for decades by the specter of fixed fights and this one certainly has done nothing to improve that image. The judges’ decision needs to be reviewed if for no other reason than to allay the public’s suspicions that boxing isn’t rigged.

Until they take a good hard look at this fight I fear that even die hard fans may walk away from the sport forever.
