UnitedHealthcare To Hire 335 In Baltimore Area

BALTIMORE (AP) -- UnitedHealthcare is planning to add 335 jobs to the Baltimore area as it improves services to Medicare beneficiaries.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the jobs will support the company's newly acquired XLHealth division, which provides Medicare health plans to chronically ill and underserved patients. The new hires will increase UnitedHealthcare's workforce by about 10 percent.

About 250 of the employees will work in a program that uses outreach workers to assess the health conditions of Medicare beneficiaries at their homes. The others will work in a pharmacy counseling program aimed at helping patients understand their prescription drug regimen.

UnitedHealthcare plans to announce the new jobs on Wednesday afternoon at the XLHealth offices at Camden Yards.
