Baltimore, Prince George's County, Eastern Shore Get Green Streets Grants

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Communities in Baltimore, Prince George's County and the Eastern Shore are among those selected to receive Green Streets grants to protect the environment as well as create green jobs.

The Environmental Protection Agency, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Maryland Department of the Environment announced the 10 grants totaling $376,000 in grants Wednesday in Baltimore.

Six of the communities are in Maryland, three in Virginia and one in Pennsylvania. They were chosen for programs that improve overall health, enhance livability and create green jobs.

In Maryland, two grants went to groups in Baltimore, while others were given to the town of Forest Heights in Prince George's County, Delmar in Wicomico County, the Housing Initiative Partnership in Cecil County, and the Water Environment Federation.
