WEATHER BLOG: More Showers Expected Sunday & Monday; Temps Begin To Climb

We got a break from the heat, but it's on its way back.

A stream of scattered showers and thunderstorms continues to run across Maryland. Thunderstorms will wind down, but some showers (and maybe a thunderstorm) will linger through the night. Then, some more thunderstorms will fire up again Sunday. There will be another round of thunderstorms scattered about again Monday. All of this is due to a series of different fronts affecting the area. There is a stalled front over the Carolinas, a warm front passing through the area, and a cold front over the middle of the country. The warm front will move through Sunday followed by the cold front to our north on Monday. When all of these clear us, they will drag a much warmer air mass our way.

Highs will start to creep up Sunday, topping out in the low 90s. We will keep on climbing from there. Highs will be in the mid 90s Monday then upper 90s Tuesday and Wednesday. A different cold front will march through on Wednesday with another round of thunderstorms. It will knock temperatures down to near 90 on Thursday, but back to the 80s on Friday.
