Md. Lottery Says It Breaks Record For 15th Year

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Maryland Lottery says it raised a record amount of money for the state in the last fiscal year for the 15th straight year.

The lottery said Monday that lottery sales netted $556 million for the state. That's an increase of $36.6 million, or 7 percent, compared to the fiscal year before it.

It's the largest revenue ever gained by the state lottery in the agency's history.

The lottery revenue is the state's fourth largest source of income after sales, income and corporate taxes.

The agency says there were $1.795 billion in sales.
