Prince George's Officials Probe Apparent Drowning

LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County fire officials say they are investigating the apparent drowning of a teen in a Laurel pond.

Officials say witnesses saw the teen go into the water near the 13000-block of Old Stagecoach Road about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and that he did not resurface.

County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says water rescue teams and a helicopter searched the pond for more than an hour before finding the teen's body. He says the water depth of the pond ranged from two to four feet.

Brady says when the teen was pulled from the water, he was not breathing and did not have a pulse. CPR was performed on the teen and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
