O's T-Shirt Giveaway Has Chen's Name In Mandarin

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Orioles say they will be giving away t-shirts with the name of Taiwanese pitcher Wei-Yin Chen written in Mandarin.

The Orioles says the first 10,000 fans arriving for Thursday night's game against Kansas City will get the shirts. The shirts will also have Orioles written on the front in Chinese characters.

Chen is in his first season with the Orioles after spending four seasons with Japan's Chunichi Dragons. The pitcher struck out 12 batters in 5 2/3 innings against Oakland last month, setting a major league record for most strikeouts in a game by a Taiwanese-born pitcher. He also became the first Oriole pitcher to strike out 10 or more in less than six innings.
