Deputy Shoots Pit Bull After It Reportedly Attacked Child

EDGEWOOD, Md. (WJZ) -- A Harford County Sheriff's deputy shot a pit bull after it reportedly attacked a child.

Officials say the sheriff's department was called after two pit bulls were jumping at someone's door on Saint Michael Court in Edgewood.

When they arrived, deputies said the dogs didn't seem aggressive. Then, according to officials, the dogs saw a child nearby and charged.

The 11-year-old boy was bitten on the face and arm.  The injuries are reportedly minor.

One of the deputies returned to the vehicle and grabbed a shotgun. One of the pit bulls charged the deputy. That deputy shot the pit bull numerous times.

The second pit bull ran back home.

Animal Control is currently investigating.
