WEATHER BLOG: T-Storms Return To Md. Friday & Saturday

A break Thursday, but another round of thunderstorms and showers is on the way.

A new front is pounding the Midwest from Indiana to Missouri with strong thunderstorms. That front will weaken as it moves our way, so we don't expect as much severe weather as they are getting. However, we will still get our own round of showers and thunderstorms, and some of them could be strong later Friday and Friday night.

Showers will linger into Saturday morning before this front slowly moves away. When it does, it will stall just to our south as a new low pressure area tracks along the front. The low will draw the front back off to the north later Sunday into Monday. There is a question if this low will come back into Maryland before heading out to sea (bringing showers and maybe some thunderstorms our way later Sunday into Monday), or make that journey to our south (keeping us dry with just some clouds). We will keep you updated on this.

One thing we do know, cooler air is moving our way this weekend and will stick around into next week. After topping out close to 90 Friday, we will be close to 80 on Sunday. Highs will stay in the low 80s through at least Monday.

In the tropics, tropical depression #8 has become tropical storm Gordon. It is way out in the Atlantic and moving to the East. This will not be an issue for the United States. In fact, it could be more of a problem for Europe than us.
