Steve Davis: Ravens No Huddle
It was interesting to see how much the Ravens ran the no-huddle in the 2nd preseason game. I talked to John Harbaugh about it, and asked if the reason is to try and speed up the pace of play, or force the defense into keeping the same personnel on the field. He said both.
They didn't really try the latter, so, at least in the this game, it was the former. I noticed that it included a 3 receiver set, and no Vonta Leach. The issue with it is that it keeps one of your better players off the field if you go with 3 receivers.
I wouldn't expect them to use it too much in that situation, because their receivers aren't good enough.
