The last time the O’s were in the playoffs was 1997, and to give some perspective on how long it’s been let’s take a look at 1997.

OK, here’s a few noteworthy items from that year.

  • The top grossing movie was Titanic
  • Top single of the year Elton John’s Candle in the Wind
  • Bill Clinton was inaugurated for his second term
  • The price of gas averaged $1.50
  • Florida State linebacker Peter Boulware was the Ravens first round draft pick.
  • And…..The Macarena was wildly popular

1997 was also the year the O’s went wire to wire and played in the postseason. That’s the last time we have had playoff baseball in Baltimore and I think the above listed milestones underscore just how long it’s been and why we all need to support this team and enjoy the ride .

Go O’s!
