WHITE MARSH, Md. (WJZ) — A parking lot dispute goes way too far in Baltimore County. Two women were rammed with a car in the middle of a busy shopping center.
Kai Jackson has more on what caused the fight and the criminal charges for the driver.
Details of the case are hard to believe and now the person accused of this parking lot road rage is facing multiple charges.
Baltimore County police say a simple parking space was at the center of a violent act. It all happened Friday around 8 p.m. at the Avenue Shopping Center in White Marsh. Police say an argument between women in two cars over a parking space escalated into chaos.
“The driver of an Oldsmobile and a passenger of a Volkswagen got into a physical fight and the driver of the Oldsmobile got back into her vehicle, pulled forward and hit the passenger of the Volkswagen,” said Baltimore
County Police Cpl. Cathy Batton.
Police say the victim, a 24-year-old woman who was the passenger in the Volkswagen, was punched and then actually pinned against a third car by the car the suspect was driving.
Police say Brandy Ames, 35, of Harford County was arrested for assault.
“For someone to have that much anger over a parking space, I mean, I think that’s unnecessary,” said Daniel Heacock.
But police say the violence didn’t end with the first altercation. Investigators say Ames went after a witness and then fled the scene.
“The driver, after striking the first person, backed up and then struck a second person in the parking lot. That person was standing there, writing the tag number of the vehicle down,” Batton said.
Baltimore County police say Brandy Ames is now charged with multiple counts of assault and traffic violations.
“We’re all doing what we need to do, going where we need to go and there’s no need for the anger behind the wheel,” said Lindsay Mazan.
Police say they were able to find Ames because the witness who was hit wrote down her license plate number.
