BALTIMORE (AP) — Doctors treating the victim of a shooting on the first day of school in Baltimore County have told his parents he’s well enough to attend a fundraiser to help pay for his medical bills.

Daniel Borowy and his family plan to go Saturday to a “Bon Voyage Summer” party organized by Charm City Live on Hart-Miller Island off Essex. Borowy’s father, Milton, said Thursday that staff at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore have taken out his son’s stitches and IV line and doctors have cleared the teen to take part in the event.

The party will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, with raffle drawings at 5 p.m.

A fellow student at Perry Hall High School, Robert Gladden, is charged with shooting Daniel Borowy, who was seriously injured.
