Cardin Airs First TV Ad Of General Election

BALTIMORE (AP) — Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin has aired his first television ad of the general election.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the ad began airing during Tuesday night’s baseball playoff game between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees.

It shows Cardin loading baggage onto airliners at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. It’s similar to an ad that ran during a primary that showed Cardin working as a waterman on the Chesapeake Bay.

Cardin’s Republican opponent, Daniel Bongino, is running a minute-long introductory ad in the Baltimore market. Independent Rob Sobhani is outspending both Cardin and Bongino with a series of ads.

Cardin served 10 terms in the House before winning his Senate seat in 2006 and is expected to be re-elected in heavily Democratic Maryland.
