WASHINGTON (AP) — A Muslim civil liberties and advocacy group says it’s erecting its own advertisements in Metro stations to combat ads that equate Muslim radicals with “savages.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, plans Friday to announce an advertising campaign in D.C.’s public transit system.

The campaign is in response to anti-jihad ads that went up this week in a handful of Metro stations. U.S. District Judge Rosemary Collyer ruled last week that Metro had to permit the ads.

Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the group, wouldn’t say exactly what the CAIR ads would say. But he said they would promote mutual understanding and challenge hate and would for the most part appear alongside the ones that attack Muslim radicals.
