ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) –  An Anne Arundel County student has been charged with bringing a dangerous weapon to school.

It happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

A school resource officer responded to Southern High School’s cafeteria at the end of lunch for a report of a student possibly carrying a weapon and displaying it to another student.

The school resource officer and school administration immediately responded and located a 17-year-old male student in possession of a knife and a CO-2 powered pellet gun. The pellet gun was not loaded.

No threats were made during the incident.

The student was arrested and charged on a juvenile citation with two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon on school property.

The investigation is ongoing.
