Police: Car Accident Death Not Storm-Related

REISTERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a car accident death that occurred overnight doesn't appear to be storm-related.

A police spokeswoman said Tuesday the death occurred in Capitol Heights as a man, identified as Aaron Jerome Smith, tried to change a car tire.

The spokeswoman says the jack shifted as Smith was working on the van and the vehicle fell on him.

Maryland Health Secretary Joshua Sharfstein initially said the death was potentially storm-related, but police say that's not the case.

A man also died Monday after a tree fell on his Pasadena home. Neighbor John Brown identified the victim as Donald Cannata Sr. Property records show Cannata owned the one-story brick ranch-style house.

A woman died in a car accident in Germantown on Monday that police are investigating as storm-related.
