BALTIMORE (WJZ) — He’s the Baltimore Ravens’ powerhouse leader, and the city was devastated when an injury knocked Ray Lewis out of the game.

Now as he recovers, Ray’s reaching out to the community. Kai Jackson explains–Baltimore is getting a glimpse of his artistic side.

Ray Lewis says football is his noise and photography is his quiet.

Most Ravens fans are used to seeing Ray Lewis as a human steamroller, flattening the competition.

“For me, this is now ten years of photography,” said Lewis.

But he’s also a photographer, and not a novice.

“I’m impressed. It’s very nice,” said David Tomasko.

The linebacker used to delivering picture perfect hits has been taking pictures for a decade. And some are in a new exhibit at the Maryland Art Place at Powerplant Live called “Sun Diaries.”

“That’s what those pictures and all my pictures represent. Just the true power of God,” he said.

“We are just so thrilled to have Ray here. He’s exhibiting and supporting Maryland Art Place. He’s also exhibiting his photography for the first time,” said Amy Cavanaugh Royce, Md. Art Place.

Lewis is sidelined for the season with a triceps injury, but surprised teammates on Friday with a visit to practice. Lewis says the focus should be on the team.

Ray Lewis has said publicly that football is not his gift, it’s a platform. Perhaps a platform for this.

“It’s the total opposite of my everyday world. My everyday world is very loud. Photography is very quiet,” said Lewis.

“So they’re actually a lot more sophisticated than I expected,” said art critic Cara Ober.

Friday night was the fall benefit for Maryland Art Place. Tickets were $250.
