JHU Professor Dies After Being Found In Water

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A woman who died after being pulled from the water off a pier in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore has been identified as a Johns Hopkins University neurology professor.

Police say Dr. Elizabeth O'Hearn 53, was pulled from the water near the 2300-block of Boston St. on Thursday. Police say they were called to the area around 4:45 a.m. after a witness reported a woman floating face down in the water. O'Hearn, who lived near where she was found, later died.

A Baltimore police spokesman says the cause of death is under investigation.

A spokeswoman for The Johns Hopkins University said the school employed someone named Elizabeth O'Hearn but could not confirm she was the person who died. Several news outlets including the school's newspaper confirmed the connection.
