Police Try To Control Rumors Of School Violence

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police are working to dispel rumors of threats of possible school violence that are spreading on social media.

Police say the rumors on Facebook and Twitter claim possible acts of violence would be coming to 20 county schools Friday.

Officers say their investigation has turned up no credible threats.

School Superintendent Kevin Maxwell tells a local media outlet that schools are safe and officials are reviewing system-wide security plans.

But Maxwell said it will be a personal decision if parents decide to keep their children home on Friday.
